floware and the Celery worker read their settings from config.ini, where every value can be overridden by an environment variable (${NAME:default}). This page lists the settings people most often need to set or change. The full list is in each service’s config.ini.

Both the API server and the worker

The worker builds and runs the same workflows as the API, so it needs most of the same settings. When a background run never leaves pending, compare these between the two.

Worker only

Missing APPLICATION_BUCKET, STORAGE_ACCOUNT_URL (Azure) or ROOTFLO_BASE_URL on the worker are the classic causes of background runs that stay pending forever (#451). Check the worker’s log right after starting a run.

Telemetry

OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT and OTEL_SERVICE_NAME send traces and metrics to an OpenTelemetry collector. When the endpoint is set but unreachable, the services keep working and log export errors. Set it correctly or leave it empty to keep the logs readable.

Logs and personal data

At INFO level, the logs include tool inputs and outputs, so data an agent reads may appear in them. Treat logs as containing personal data: restrict access and set retention accordingly, or raise the log level in production.
